The Circuit Board

The math of electricians and electronics students, one step at a time: Ohm’s law and power, series and parallel resistors, voltage drop in a run of wire, loads on a breaker, what an appliance costs to run, the resistor color code, capacitors and RC time constants, and AC and three-phase power. Fractions on the Fraction Bar, square roots on the Power Tower, the exponential curve on the Log Ladder.

For learning and checking coursework only. Electrical work can kill. Follow the electrical code where you live (in the US, the NEC as your state or town adopts it) and have a licensed electrician do or inspect real wiring. Numbers like the 80% rule for continuous loads and the 3% voltage-drop target are common guidelines, not your local code.
